Design Reliable, Contamination-Controlled
Data Center Cooling Systems

Filtration solutions engineered for chilled water loops, CDU systems, and liquid cooling infrastructure—
helping engineering teams protect performance, reduce fouling, and ensure long-term system reliability.

Data centers are the backbone of the digital economy, supporting cloud computing, AI, streaming, and enterprise IT. With exponentially growing data traffic and computing power, data centers require robust, efficient cooling systems to maintain optimal operating temperatures and protect sensitive equipment.

Cooling systems in data centers range from traditional chilled water loops and cooling towers to advanced liquid immersion and direct-to-chip cooling technologies. Filtration is critical to maintain system efficiency, prevent corrosion and fouling, and ensure long-term reliability.

Today’s cooling systems demand clean, stable, and corrosion-free water. Integrating filtration at the design stage ensures reliability from day one.

Location Global Filter Solutions Filter Purpose
1
Incoming Water Particulate Filter
Filter Bag or High Flow Cartridge Prevent initial contamination and scaling by removing suspended solids, silt, organics, and biological matter from incoming city or well water before it enters the closed-loop system.
2
Side Stream Filtration
High Flow Cartridge or Polypropylene Pleated Depth Continuously polishes a portion (5–15%) of the circulating loop water to remove suspended solids, corrosion byproducts (rust, scale), and microbiological growth. Keeps the entire system clean without shutting down operations; reduces fouling of coils, chillers, and heat exchangers.
3
Condenser/Heat Exchanger Protection
High Flow Cartridge or Polypropylene Pleated Depth Protect high-value equipment from fouling by utilizing inline filtration directly upstream of condenser tubes or plate-and-frame heat exchangers to stop scale particles, rust, and solids.
4
Heat Exchanger/CDU Protection
Polyethersulfone Pleated Membrane Removes fine and sub-micron particulate before water enters the CDU, protecting micro-channel heat exchangers and cold plates from fouling, flow restriction, and heat transfer loss—ensuring stable cooling performance and system reliability.
5
CDU/Server Rack Protection
Polyethersulfone Pleated Membrane Provides final-point, high-efficiency particulate removal immediately before liquid enters server cold plates, preventing micro-channel blockage, maintaining precise flow distribution, and protecting mission-critical IT hardware from thermal performance degradation.

Vessel Selection by Application

Selecting the right filtration vessel for a data center cooling system depends on where it is installed within the process and the demands of that specific application. Factors such as flow rate, pressure requirements, available footprint, and service accessibility all play a critical role in proper vessel sizing and configuration. Whether used for full-flow protection or side-stream filtration, the right vessel ensures consistent performance, efficient particulate removal, and long-term system reliability.
