We understand the impact improper filtration can have on the fermented preparations you produce and the overall adverse impact that substandard filtration can have on your business.
Optimizing the Fermentation Filtration Process
In the fine chemical industry, it is critical to filter process components to prevent particulate and microbial contamination, helping ensure product sterility and quality. Global Filter’s product solutions help protect the process from contaminants while extending service life and reducing operations costs. Global Filter designs and manufactures filter elements and vessels that are widely used in the fermentation filtration. Our 50 years of industry expertise in the chemical preparations will help to optimize your manufacturing process.
Typical Fermentation Process
Fermentation Particle Filtration
Filtration of raw materials is important to ensure the best productivity. Global Filter product range offers solutions to remove contaminants from solids particles to microorganisms from fermented preparations.
Firstly, the filtration of the H2O inlet will help remove particulates from process water and ensure water quality as an ingrediient. The goal of the particulate filtration step from the pre and post filtration to micro and ultrafiltration is to remove coarse particulates from the finished product. Installed downstream of the DE filter, the particulate filter will remove potential DE fines from the final product. This will ensure high quality of the process and minimized sediment as well as poor quality perception of the final product.
Then, for the particulate removal filter, we recommend using Global Filter’s GWTB-Series Meltblown cartridges, one of our pleated cartrides (PP-Series or FG Series) or our pleated depth cartridges (GHLS-Series).
Sterilising / bio burden reduction
This step reduces and removes virtually microorganisms and contaminants down to 0.2 micron as final filtration to high purity applications and as further polishing in downstream ultra high purity water systems. This will protect the tanks and their contents from contamination. Our sterilising grade cartridges are pharmaceutical validated according to HIMA rules.
Our PPES-Series is one of the recommended solutions along with the AFS Sanitary vessel. Global Filter’s BRPES-Series or BRHNY-Series offer a reliable solution for bio burden reduction / endotoxin removal.
Tank Vent Filtration
Storage and fill tank vent filtration allows for bacteria and particulate-free air to pass during filling and evacuation, protecting the storage tank and its contents from contamination. This filter is typically rated at 0.2 micron and is hydrophobic and bacterial retentive, which prevents moisture airborne contaminants from entering the tank. Our BRPTFE-Series can be used if full sterilising grade is not required, however it has a LRV bio reduction value. More information about tank vent filtration can be found here.
